Mens basketball signing period came with a great huge exciting clump of poop! I dont mean the player that we signed was poop, i think he will be what we really need in the all guard offense we will have - a rebounder and defender. The thundering sound of poop was the way we got played by another kid who was set to sign with us in the early period and didnt, and then held out to sign with a hoops juggernaut - !! ok not really - it was HOUSTON!! if we would have lost him to Prarie View it would have been better than losing him to a CUSA foe that backdoored us for him!
I think we will be better than people think next year - as long as our big men stay healthy.
Watch out for Timmons & Holmes - these two are most likely the two best pure hoops athletes we have had here in a decade or more!

The kid did not "play" Tulane. The fact is the player you mentioned who ultimately decided on UH based his decision on the fact he felt more comfortable on the Houston campus. During his visit to Tulane, He did not see many African American students or any African American fraternities or social groups. Compared to his visit to UH, where there is a significant AA student population and social presence, the player felt more comfortable spending his college days in Houston.
ReplyDeleteWhile this is no slap in the face at Tulane, it is certainly a factor by which Houston is more attractive than Tulane. Seventeen and Eighteen year olds all have different reasons for attending certain colleges. Add in the "fear of change" which accompanies any major life decision and there are bound to be some surprises. So he felt more comfortable on the UH campus. It is best he finds out now rather than 2 years from now when Tulane has invested 2 years of coaching & training into him then he leaves. The young man did what is best for him. Should we begrudge any high school senior for picking "their" college choice? Our recruiting looks to be the best in the Dickerson Era with a 3 star scoring PG and a former HS top 50 SG/SF hybrid. Also, the PF from the River Parishes is a monster 6'8" 260 man and we still may not be finished.
Remember Calipari is GONE and CUSA is no longer Memphis and the eleven dwarves. Dickerson possibly has his best team ever coming back. Good things are in store for Tulane basketball. Nice Blog, keep up the good work. Roll Wave!
I dont think it was a shot at the kid, he can make whatever choice he wants. The whole line about not seeing enough "people like him" is bogus! It doesnt matter if there are 10 or 10000 people like you on campus - Its NEW ORLEANS!!! There are plenty of people that the big man could relate to if that is what he feels. The city itself - duh! and Dillard and Xaiver---Hmmmmmmm! That is a great excuse that was given - but it is a really really bad excuse that someone Plugged into his brain in IGNORANCE
